By "Arbitrary Text", we mean that this is a place where you can type in either part of a person's name, or the name of their organization. It is usually not useful to type in the person's username, "screen name", or other account identifier.
Although anything may be typed in, the server will still only search for e-mail addresses of persons who have posted to Usenet. It will not search for other information that is available on the web.
